This piece requires a bit of "Star Trek" knowledge in order to be enjoyed.  I admit to being somewhat of a "Trek" person, although I'm an "Absolute Purist" in that field (meaning I only recognize the original series and the six movies).  The later "Trek" material only confuses me.
