During WW 1, a German soldier on the eastern front expressed his absolute certainty of victory. "Franz," said he, "We Germans are a pious people who pray on the eve of each battle. How can we lose?"
"I know that, Dietrich," replied his companion, "But the Russians are also a pious people. They pray before each battle as well."
"Of course," Dietrich retorted, "But who understands Russian?"
