The businessman was desperate. His firm's sales had slumped. He owed everyone in town. He was down to his last few cents.

So he went to his pastor and asked for advice.

"Go to the beach with your bible," was the advice he received. "Sit on the sand letting the wind rifle the pages. When the wind dies down, look at the page that's open and read the first words you see. Do what those words tell you."

After about a year the preacher happened to see the fellow again. He was driving a new car; wearing a finely tailored suit; and he handed the pastor an envelope with a nice donation.

"Well, did you do as I advised you a year ago."

The businessman assured the pastor that he had and that the advice had been good.

Pleased, the pastor continued,

"May I ask, what were the first words you saw in your bible?"

"Certainly," the man replied, "Chapter 11 ..."
