After many years of association, three clergymen--one Catholic, one Jewish, and one Episcopalian--became devoted friends. One day the Catholic priest is in a reflective mood and begins,

"I feel I must make a confession to you. Although I have done my best to keep the faith, I have occasionally lapsed and several times since my seminary days I have entertained skeptical and heretical ideas."

"Ah well," says the rabbi, "It is good to admit these things, and so I will tell you that I have occasionally lapsed in my observance of several dietary laws, which are central to our faith."

At this the Episcopalian priest, his fare reddening, says,

"If only I had so little to be ashamed of. You know, only last week I caught myself eating a main course with my salad fork ..."
