It seems that three fellows from the three major branches of the U.S. Armed Services happened to embark on the journey to meet their Maker at the same time. As they arrived before the Pearly Gates, the boys were engaged in heated conversation as to which of the services was the most noble.
Upon meeting St. Peter, they agreed to put the question to him and abide by his decision.
"That's an issue I'm certainly unable to resolve," said he. But I'll take the matter up with the Boss and someone will be back to you."
Some time later a written message was delivered to each man, which read as follows:
"All the three Services are equal in truth and nobility. Men should not dispute over such obviously trivial matters."
