The doctor was struggling with a difficult case. It seems the young woman patient was consumed with worry. After considerable effort the doctor devised a strategy to help her.
"Suppose," said he, "you're fired with a desire to play the piano. First, you learn the fundamentals, then you practice assiduously through the simpler pieces into more difficult ones. You have accomplished your purpose. Same with worrying. That's a habit, too. You learn the basic, underlying principles of what causes worry, then practice seriously how to avoid worry."
"Well, maybe you're right, doc, but I don't think it will work out with me."
"Why not?"
"Because... well, last week we sold our piano ..."
