The theatre was crowded when a woman in the balcony rose and cried loudly, in a an unmistakable accent,
"Is there a doctor in the house? Is there a doctor in the house?"
At various points in the audience several people rose.
The woman continued, "If one of you gentlemen is single, would you like to meet my nice, well brought-up, young, daughter?"
