Patient Resistance

Back Next

Hardly a day passes in any consultation room wherein the physician doesn't meet up with a severe case of patient's resistance, as the following case histories illustrate:

CASE 1:

The doctor had just remarked,

"I wouldn't mind this headache if I were you,"

Whereupon, the patient sneered,

"Nor I ... if I were you."

CASE 2:

The M.D. had just proclaimed, after extensive study and examination:

"We'll have to tap your spine."

The patient was emphatic:

"No, otherwise it's the end, Doc. Nothing ever lasted in my house after it was tapped once ..."
