Not long ago a prominent member of the community, who was director of a large funeral home, awoke very early complaining of severe abdominal pains. His wife rushed him to the emergency room, where he was given a series of tests to determine the source of the pain.

Uncertain of the outlook, the fellow delayed a determination as to whether he would go to work that day until more information was available. At last the results were in, and an elderly doctor arrived to inform husband and wife that a kidney stone was the culprit.

Turning to her husband, the woman asked,

"Would you like me to call the funeral home now?"

With a look that combined alarm and disdain, the doctor quickly spoke:

"Lady, he ain't that sick ..."
