Diagnosis

The doctor was sitting quietly, minding his own business, when a call comes in from an old patient.

"Doctor," said he, "You must come immediately. My wife is clearly suffering from appendicitis."

The doctor reflected a moment. "This is truly extraordinary," he replied, "you must be mistaken."

"There is no mistake," replied the caller. "She's been seen by a physician at work where she was taken ill. He is definite on the diagnosis and the need for immediate attention."

"But," the doctor tried again, "I removed your wife's appendix three years ago. It is unheard of for any person to grow a second appendix. if this is true then the case is singular in the extreme..."

"It's far more common," the caller interrupted, "for a man to acquire another wife."
