It perhaps comes as no surprise that Ma and Pa, whose contentions we occasionally explore in these pages, rarely agree on political questions either. It happens that this year Pa has broken with the century-old family practice and support the Republicans. Naturally this keenly arouses Ma's sensibilities. At last, Pa confronted her on the subject.
"Ma," said he, "I don't believe you'd vote for St. Peter and the angels if they ran on the Republican ticket!"
To which she replied,
"Of course not. If they switched parties at this late date, they wouldn't be very reliable, now would they?"
