Neighbors

The two men were long-time neighbors and had for years been involved in a lawsuit. The issue was trivial, but both were believers in the "majesty of the law" and were determined to win. After countless minor skirmishes the final trial was scheduled and one neighbor entered the courtroom, surrounded by a cluster of witnesses.

A few minutes later his adversary entered and, taking one startled look at his neighbor and his entourage, immediately hurried over to him.

"Are these your witnesses," said he.

"They are, my fine fellow," came the reply.

"Then I concede here and now," said the first. "They're fine witnesses;

I've used them twice before myself ..."
