The investment counselor, determined to set out on her own, was shrewd and diligent and hence did not suffer from any lack of business. Soon it was apparent that legal counsel was in order and in due course several lawyers were interviewed.
"As I am certain you understand," the investment advisor began, "in a business such as this, personal integrity must be beyond question."
Leaning forward with an earnest expression, she continued,
"Sir, are you an honest lawyer?"
"Honest," replied the attorney taking some offense, "Let me tell you something about honest. I'm so honest that by father lent me thousands of dollars for my education and I repaid every penny the minute I tried my first case."
"That's fine," reflected the investment counselor, "and what sort of case was that?"
The lawyer replied with dignity,
"He sued me for the money ..."
