After his wife, Pat, died, Richard Nixon reminisced about when his youngest granddaughter, Jeannie Eisenhower, asked her grandmother what she should call her. "Grandmother" seemed stiff, and "Grandma" too old, so simply "Ma" was agreed.

Jeannie then asked Nixon the same question.

"Oh, you can call me anything," said he, "because I've been called most everything ..."
