Sir Alfred Hitchcock (1889-1980) was among the most influential film directors and screenwriters of his time. At one point Hitchcock was working with actress Ingrid Bergman early in her career. It seems Bergman was uncomfortable with the way Hitchcock had asked her to play a certain scene. Taking all her courage in her hands, she confronted him and began,

"I don't think I can do that naturally."

She went on to explain her difficulties and suggest possible changes.

Hitchcock listened solemnly, nodding from time to time. Miss Bergman began to believe she had won her case.

"All right," he said at last, "If you can't do it naturally, then fake it."

----------------A Final Thought ...

- Sir Alfred Hitchcock (1889-1980), British film director and screenwriter. Hitchcock never sat with an audience to watch his film, and made this comment when someone asked if he didn't miss hearing them scream.
