Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip once visited the White House while Gerald Ford was president. While dressing for dinner that evening, the Ford's son Jack mislaid the studs for his dress shirt and headed to his father's room in hopes of borrowing some replacements.
Boarding the elevator, shirt unfastened and hair in disarray, he found it occupied by his parents and the royal couple. Mrs. Ford was visibly embarrassed, but persevered and introduced her son.
Studying the boy's unkempt appearance, the queen remarked sympathetically,
"I have one just like that ..."
