NoŽl Coward was renown for his many talents, including a rare spontaneous wit. During a performance of one of his plays, broadcaster Gilbert Harding promptly fell asleep and snored loudly throughout.
After the show Harding apologized profusely for his doubtless rude behavior.
"No need to apologize, my dear fellow," Coward remarked graciously. "After all, I have never bored you one half as much as you bored me."
