A young and upcoming contemporary music composer decided to turn his hand to classical material and, after considerable toil produced his first opus. The work was performed by the community's orchestra, anxious for the publicity afforded.
The composer enquired after the success of the concert to a music critic,
"What's your opinion of my work?"
"I believe," said he, "That it will be performed long after composers like Bach and Beethoven are forgotten."
"Yes, indeed, and not a minute before ..."
