The rivalry between Texas and Oklahoma can be fairly intense on occasion.
Once two fellows were attending a convention of oil men. The first speaker, a Texan of no small reputation, gave a meandering and essentially pointless address for about half an hour. He then commenced to introduce the next speaker, who happened to be from Oklahoma.
The Texas man announced the other's residence by saying,
"Oklahoma, an outlying province of Texas."
The second speaker began,
"Thank you, but, just to set the record straight, there ain't NO state that can out-lie Texas ..."
----------------A Final Thought ...
"Many people have believed that they were Chosen, but none more baldly than the Texans."
