Unfortunately a fairly young woman's husband takes a turn for the worse after a brief illness. His legacy to her consists of a $20,000 insurance policy. After everything is done at the funeral home and cemetery, she tells her closest friend that she has no money left.

"How can that be? You told me you had $20,000 when your husband died. How could you be broke?"

"Well, the funeral home cost me $5,000," the widow replied. "And of course, there were other bills to be settled, so that was another $5,000. "The rest went for the memorial stone."

"$10,000 for the memorial stone? My goodness, how big was it?"

Extending her left hand, the widow says,

"Three carats."
