The fellow had recently made the final payment on his mortgage, but immediately thereafter borrowed against his house again to build a large garage. Once this was completed he was again seated before the banker to buy large car.
The banker pondered the situation and then inquired,
"If I make this new loan, how will you be able to buy gas for the car?"
The fellow replied, with all the top-loftiness he could muster:
"It seems to me that any man who owns a big house, a garage, and a car should be able to get credit for gasoline."
