It's been said that advertising is perhaps the most cutthroat and grasping of the professions. Not long ago two Madison Avenue advertising executives, both in the stratospheres of their professions, were having lunch and talking.

The first opened conversation thus:

"Where has Charlie Harris been hanging out? I haven't seen him for a while."

"Haven't you heard?" the other replied, "Charlie went to that great agency in the sky."

"What," came the response, "You're kidding me, right? What did he have?"

"Oh, nothing much," replied the other, "A small toothpaste account and a couple of discount stores, but nothing much worth going after ..."
